«The key to increasing VC funding for female founders is through female founded VC funds, or else we face 200 years before gender equality is reached in VC.»
– The Global Women in VC report, Oct 2020
Women are 51% of the world’s population, open almost 40% of all businesses yet receive less than 3% of all venture capital funding. And now investment in women-led startups has fallen to a 3 year low. Investors have reverted to investing in what they know best: male-led startups (Pitchbook). Meanwhile women represent just 5% of VC leadership (Women in VC), yet it is female funders who are 2x more likely to invest in startups with one female founder and 3x more likely to invest in a female CEO (All Raise).
We’re setting out to be part of the solution. Three women-led and founded new VC funds operating in the U.S. and EMEA are hosting an in-person event to share how LPs can make a difference. The research shows that by backing women-led funds, LPs can increase their returns (Harvard Business Review) and solve our biggest social and environmental challenges.
