California Investor Club
21/07/2021 @ 09:00 - 11:00
In partnership with TechSoup, Impact Finance Center is hosting the California Investor Club. From Silicon Valley to San Diego, the state of California has a vibrant network of social enterprises and nonprofit organizations focused on serving local communities and solving the state’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. This 3-part Investor Club series will work to build the infrastructure needed to catalyze more investment capital in California’s impact sector, acting as a marketplace to directly connect investors with the projects they care about.
Nonprofit organizations need patient flexible capital to invest in building their capacity. It can be hard to find this type of capital from grant funding alone, which is often restricted for certain programs. When appropriately structured, investments into nonprofits can bring benefits to both the nonprofit organization as well as for funders and investors. Nonprofits with earned revenue streams can take on debt to invest in growth, paying back investors over time with a modest interest rate. For funders, the return of capital plus a small amount of interest has the potential to be more impactful than a grant because the money can be reinvested or granted out at the end of the loan term.
The 3-part California Investor Club features events in July, September, and November, in which impact investors will share their stories, we will do a deep dive into innovative investment models with TechSoup and other social ventures, and California-based social ventures will present quick pitches.
To be a part of this progressive initiative, please register for our first California Investor Club here.
